Caldwell Zoo - April 17, 2009 |
|
The sky looked ominous when we got to the zoo in Tyler, so we were thankful for its small size. What it lacks in acreage, it makes up for in beauty. What a pretty little zoo! Waterfalls, beautiful flowers everywhere, gorgeous trees. And the employees were super friendly. From the guy directing traffic (Jim) to the college kid in the ticket booth (Sam) to the folks in the office, everyone was excited to see us and to hear about our big adventure. Lions, elephants, giraffes, bongos, meerkats, rhinos—lots of variety for a small zoo. Our favorite animals were the white tigers—a brother/sister pair. The female (Meka) has almost no stripes. Crazy! We made it through the entire zoo in record time (while still enjoying all the animals). We ran to our van, the claps of thunder getting louder and louder, and just as we were putting our stroller away, the rain came pouring down. Exquisite timing.
