Central Park Zoo - June 11, 2009 |
|
Manhattan is no Columbus,
Ohio, that's for sure. After a nail-biting 45 minutes, we found ourselves in a
reasonably-priced (relatively speaking) parking garage just a couple blocks
from Central Park. The zoo is tiny but cute. One of the highlights was the sea
lion show. Their rocky exhibit is beautiful and sits smack dab in the middle of
a gorgeous flower garden. My personal favorite was Zeppelin, the baby snow
monkey. We stood and watched him for the longest time. He'd venture a foot or
so from Mom, hop and skip around, then run back to nurse. She'd scoop him up
and carry him from rock to rock, then let him play some more. The new snow
leopard exhibit opened the very day we were there, but the primarily nocturnal
snow leopard was nowhere to be found. After a quick tour of the zoo, we headed
through Central Park and unexpectedly ended up in front of the world-famous
Apple Store. Nice. Apple is to Gabe what giraffes are to Marla. What a
productive day!
