Dallas Zoo - April 16, 2009 |
|
We were told by several people that we were absolutely crazy to attempt both Fort Worth and Dallas in the same day. That may be true, but we did it anyway. And survived! It helped that the first thing we did at the Dallas Zoo that afternoon was hop on the monorail (thanks for the free tickets, DZ!). What a great way to see a lot of animals without using any energy! Our safari guide was quite perky and kept us from being lulled to sleep by the smooth monorail ride. More okapi (and lots of other animals). The girls enjoyed the children's zoo—lots of stuff to climb on. They also got to crawl underground and see hornbills and pygmy mongooses (mongeese?), and they petted a rabbit and a guinea pig. We rode the carousel five times—the zoo was awfully generous with their ride tickets. It was a quiet afternoon at the zoo, a perfect way to end our big 2-fer day.
