We met a college pal and her kiddos at the zoo before spending the night at their house. The girls were excited to see rhinos up and moving around, even running. We normally catch them napping. These two stared us down, pawed the ground, and looked like they wanted to impale us. We fed giraffes (Raspberry, Chardo and Ajax were their names) and watched some X-rated gorilla fondling. The Arctic Ring of Life is one of the best polar bear exhibits anywhere, but unfortunately, all the bears were snoozing. We had so hoped to walk under a swimming polar bear in Polar Passage, a 70-foot glass tunnel. Maybe next time!
