Fort Worth Zoo - April 16, 2009

ImageFort Worth wins the title of Our Favorite Zoo in Texas. Easily in the top three or four zoos we've been too so far. We picked a popular day to visit—1500 school-aged kids were at the zoo on field trips. But it's big, so there was room for all of us. The zoo is beautiful—much like Tampa, the foliage is lush and green and never sparse. We loved the giraffes—and had fun watching a unique encounter between a giraffe and a turtle. The apes were amazing—their exhibits were wonderful. The rhino had his own waterfall and pool. He was standing under it like he was at a spa. We caught some spindly gerenuks standing upright, eating leaves out of trees. Amazing creatures! And Fort Worth's Texas exhibit is massive—we joked that only in Texas would a state exhibit be bigger than all of Africa. There is much, much, much to love about the Fort Worth Zoo!
