Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden - October 4, 2008

ImageWe stayed in Evansville with a couple we've never met. They were incredible. Granny packed us a delicious lunch, and she and her granddaughter accompanied us to the zoo. Our favorite exhibit, by far, was the brand-spankin'-new Amazonia. Adorable, hyper-active monkeys, a big, sleek, chocolate brown tapir, two capybaras, brilliant scarlet ibises, and a gorgeous jaguar. We rode flamingo paddleboats across a huge lake until our legs went numb. We watched a giraffe choke on a rock (or so we thought). He ended up spitting it out. Whew.  Old zoo, fun times.
