Montgomery Zoo - December 11, 2008 |
|
We started our day in Birmingham and ended it in Montgomery. It was cold, cold, cold (and rained part of the day), but we really loved the Montgomery Zoo. We were greeted at the entrance by a super-nice zoo guy. He had a Christmas basket for us with stuffed rhinos, candy canes and a free meal! The animal habitats were all beautiful. Waterfalls and such. We loved the white tigers. And the cheetahs. And we got photos of a male and female lion play-fighting. Africa was our favorite spot. We watched the giraffes and zebras, antelopes and pygmy hippos for the longest time. Our favorite animal was Makena, a month-old elephant. The zoo also has a taxidermy museum—it's phenomenal. All sorts of dead animals from North America. The girls were especially impressed with the gigantic polar bears. We had a great day in Montgomery!
