Sea World San Diego - July 17, 2009 |
|
Ranking Sea Worlds is a whole lot easier than ranking zoos, since there are only three of them. In our book, San Diego ranks a solid second after Orlando. We got there right when they opened and headed straight for the sea lions. We promised the girls they could feed dolphins, but you can't do that in SD. Later on, my contact at the park took us on an unexpected Behind-the-Scenes tour where we got to see baby dolphins and pet/feed a couple mama dolphins. It. Was. Awesome. We also saw a bunch of juvenile sea lions that have been rescued. And the very rare (in captivity) Commerson's dolphins. The shows are always great—and most of them were different from ones we've seen so far. Our favorite show was the Dolphin Pyrotechnic Show at night. Dolphins, lights, fire, water—what could be better? Besides the fact that none of the seating areas have any shade (we all got burnt), we had an incredible day!
